Board Repair Tips of iPhone 7 Motherboard Swap - No Old Data Version

When the motherboard is severely damaged, you need to swap the motherboard chips to make your iPhone back to work. For example, water damaged, motherboard circuit damaged. Swap motherboard requires certain skills and corresponding tools to complete. In this article we demonstrate how to swap iPhone 7 motherboard chips. Please note: this is a no old data version. For old data reserved version motherboard repair, please follow our channel.

Power on & record
Assemble the motherboard which needs to swap over with. Power on the iPhone 7, check and record the serial number and IMEI.

Grind chip
Use JC logic board grinder to grind the backside of the old motherboard CPU

Disassemble CPU
Please be careful to choose the logic board grinder you use, as it's the key to the success of the subsequent operation. A good logic board grinder helps you to get twice the result with half the effort.

Lay the old motherboard under the microscope, use the hot air gun and glue removal knife to clean up the side glue on the CPU. After removing the side glue, carefully take off the main CPU. Secure the motherboard on the motherboard fixture. Use the hot air gun and knife blade to take off the baseband CPU, use the hot air gun and knife blade to take off the NAND. To better read and write the baseband chip data, use the rosin and soldering iron to desolder and clean up the corresponding area on the old motherboard.

Read and write the data
Use the JC chip non-removal read/write module for iPhone 7 series to read the baseband chip data in the old motherboard and back up in the computer,(for the detailed JC tool operation guide) old motherboard baseband chip data backup completed. Take another new motherboard with CPU and baseband CPU removal, make sure it has been cleaned up and with normal tested current. Set the new motherboard in the JC chip non-removal read/write module, write the old motherboard baseband chip backup data in the new motherboard. Take out the new motherboard when write-in completed. We use the JC-P7 NAND read/write programmer to backup the old NAND data to further write in the new motherboard. Install the old NAND in the programmer slot, read the old NAND data and backup in the computer. Take out the NAND when backup finished. Use JC NAND non-removal programmer for iPhone 7 to write the old NAND data in the new NAND, install the new motherboard in the JC NAND non-removal programmer for iphone 7 and read the NAND data, write the old motherboard NAND backup data in the new motherboard NAND. When data written-in in completed, take off the new motherboard. That CPU need to be rebelled and cleaned before being reassembled

CPU soldering
Use soldering iron and rosin to clean up the old motherboard baseband CPU, use reball stencils, solder paste and hot air gun to reball the baseband CPU. After cooling down, use CPB cleaner to clean up and complete the baseband CPU reballing. Lay old motherboard main CPU under microscope, desolder and clean up the old main CPU with soldering iron, tweezers, hot air gun and glue removal knife. Use PCB cleaner to clean up the old main CPU. Lay the old main CPU on the soldering platform and reball. Take off the reball stencil, use hot air gun and solder flux to help to reset the tin balls and finish reballing.

Assemble CPU
Secure the new motherboard in the motherboard fixture for iPhone 7. Add some solder flux on the baseband CPU soldering pads. Use hot air gun to assemble the old motherboard baseband CPU on the new motherboard. Use the same method to assemble the old motherboard main CPU. When CPU assembled, cool down for 5minutes.

Assemble Motherboard
Use DC power supply to measure the motherboard current, the current measure normal. Assemble the new motherboard, connect to the power and PC. Use iTunes to restore the system. Power on the iPhone 7 after system restoration, check up the serial number and IMEI, the series number and IMEI are the same as the recorded old one. Motherboard is swapped successfully
